What I did after school...

Hello Lovelies,

(I'm the shortest one)

After a year of suffering through revision and stress for exams, which are going to stick with me forever I finally finished school.
I finished school at 16, but we have to stay in education until 18 so I had a huge decision in deciding what I wanted to do and where I wanted to go after I left. (I cried several times during this decision, I hate deciding!)

Where to go?
We get to choose between getting an apprenticeship, going to college (this is where you learn specific skills for a job, like mechanics or hair dressing) or sixth form (this is basically the same as school only you do a maximum of 5 subjects that you choose yourself, no more maths yey).
I decided I was going to go to sixth form back at my old school, I chose to do four subjects which are;

  • Sociology
  • Travel and Tourism
  • English Literature
  • Business
A little about sixth form
It's a lot different to school, there's more responsibility, freedom, A LOT more work and the odd bit of stress,
Going from school where there is a lot of rules, everyone is treated like a child (which for the life of me I hate) and having to wear a uniform.
To coming to sixth form with a lot less rules, being treated like an adult and having responsibility's and going to school in your own clothes (which is actually not as wonderful as it sounds because it's hard to find an outfit for each day of the week which isn't pyjamas) is a shock to the system.

Friends
However, it hasn't taken me long to make a new friendship group, a big one for that matter sometimes there's like 20 of us.
I made friends with people I've never met before, as they came from other schools. But also people who I knew but I wasn't friends with before, which is always nice to become friends after a while!
I've gotten to know my teachers and got used to the quick classes, making fast notes and jazzing up a good old folder.
There's homework everynight as well as independent research to do, which after the first few weeks isn't as bad as it seems at all!
But well also get one "non contact" lesson a day which we can spend in the library or a social area to do independent work or research. (It also means I get to go home early on a Thursday and have a nap)

What's best for you?
I know a lot of you may be soon coming to the decision I had to make with choosing where to go after school.
It's important that you choose what's right for you, not what your family say or friends do, choose what YOU want to choose!!
In my personal opinion sixth form is such a good place to do your extra studies, it's a lot different and better than secondary school. Although there is a lot more hardwork, it's 100% worth it in the end.

I hope this post helps to give you an idea about what you want to do leaving school, I hope my brief explanation into sixth form is helpful to those of you who are interested.

If you have any questions about leaving school, final exams or sixth form or college fire away and I'll try my best to help you all out. Remember, explore all options and choose what YOU want.

Where have I been & Update on me

Hello my lovelies,
As I'm sure you're all aware I have been gone from my blog for over 4 months now ( I missed it so much).
I blogged a while ago saying I was back, but then left again (very contradicting). I finished my exams, hurray! Then I was left school with an 11 week holiday, which believe me was the best. I decided that I was going to have those 11 weeks to myself as I'd spent probably a year stressing about my exams and what I was going to do after I left school etc etc it was so hectic.

So, I had those weeks to myself away from a lot of my social media and I got chance to plan my future and spend time with my friends and family which was so wonderful.
I'm now back at school ( in the UK we have to stay at school until 18 so I decided to go back to my school and carry on education there) and I've settled in and have decided now is the perfect time to come back to my blog now I have time to write.

So...
I thought would be a good idea to start back with my posts by telling you updates about me and what I've been doing in these heavenly 11 weeks to myself, that post along with others will be up soon. I promise I'm back for good and I'm dedicating time to my blog as I enjoy it so much.

Although, I have plans for what I'd like to blog about I'd also love some ideas from someone other than myself. So, I thought who best than you lovelies who read my blog. As you're the ones reading my blog and (hopefully) enjoying so, I would really love to know what you want me to blog about and what you'd like to read.
If you have any ideas at all just let me know, allllllllll my social media and my email address is on my "contact me" page on my blog so you can let me know there or comment.

I hope you're all wonderful and well and as excited as me for Christmas, I hope to talk to you soon!

I'M BACK!

Hello lovelies, so as some of you may have noticed I disappeared from the blogging world for a while.
I, like many other (now very happy) 15/16yr olds have completed my exams at the end of secondary school. The reason I didn't blog was because I wanted to concentrate on revising and doing my best in my exams as you only have once chance at them. After a very stressful month of exams, I'm all done and my summer has begun. Which only means that regular blog posts from This Teenage Blogger will be a thing again, yey!!

I may be changing a few of the posts around, but I'm so happy I can finally get back to blogging which I enjoy the most.
Thank you for sticking around and waiting for me to get back, let the summer of blogging begin.

Dealing with school stress

I was going to say it's getting that time of year with exams where school becomes so stressful, but that's a lie because from day one school is stressful and unfortunately will be until the day you leave. I thought as I am near the end of my secondary school experience and soon to do my exams and leave I would give some helpful tips on dealing with school stress.

1) Good sleep! Have some quiet time away from your phone and everything, read a book or magazine or have a nice drink before bed. This way nothing will be on your mind when you go to sleep causing less worrying about it.

2) Motivate yourself. Okay, this one is hard but tell yourself in the morning "I'm going to have a good day" If you tell yourself you're going to have a bad day you're pretty much putting yourself down to fail and have a bad day. Even if you don't believe persuade yourself!

3) Do homework on time. Yeah this one is hard too, but honestly if you leave it till the last minuet you might not have a clue what to do and stress over it, but if you get it done the day you're given it you can get it done straight away and if you don't know what to do you can ask the next day.

4) Pace yourself with work. Teachers set a lot of work in lessons so pace yourself, even if they moan you're not doing it all or you're being slow. You're taking it in and working it out as it comes, rather than all at once and stressing and panicking and not knowing even the simplest of work.

5) It's okay to time out. If you're stressed about work or school in general, close your eyes count to 10 and start your work again. This calms you down and decreases the stress levels to a level you can cope with and still get work done. You could also ask a teacher if you can stand outside for a minuet, then close your eyes and breathe and go back into your lesson and try the work again.

6) Have breakfast. Irreverent ? No it's really not, if you don't have breakfast your brain isn't awake so when you come to your first lesson of the day *poof* you can't do anything. Having breakfast kick starts your brain so your brain will be awake and able to work, instead of you being stressed, stuck and hungry.

7) Ask for help. If you're struggling with work ask a teacher for help, they're not going to say no. Unless it's an exam and you should have revised, in that case see number 3. They can talk you through it again in a different way you can understand better.

8) It's okay to say you're stressed. It's okay to tell a teacher, friend, mom, dad, brother, sister or anyone that you're stressed. It's okay to say "look I'm getting really stressed, can I have some help". From the stage of life statistics 75.5% of teens are afraid of poor academic performance or not getting good grades. This means that 75% of your year group is probably stressing about school work so ask for help! There are teachers in school whose purpose is to help young stressed teens, they're there to help.

I hope you're not all getting too stressed about school work, I know it's hard and it sucks but there is such a good feeling at the end when you receive your good grades and go onto better things in the future because of it. Remember, stress happens to everyone at some point in their life so never be afraid to ask for help. I really hope this post is helpful to some of you, good luck in all your school work.

P.S Sorry there was no post last week and this one is late, I have so much revision I'm literally living in books!!

Best Blogging Buddies Award

Hello lovelies, I know I've uploaded a lot of award posts lately so another post will follow this one today!
Recently Eve at Pen and Key nominated me for the 'best blogging buddies award' I loved reading her post so I'm very excited to do one myself. So thank you for nominating me lovely!!

The rules;
Make a post to show the award on your main blog.
Thank the person who nominated you and take the owl with you!
Nominate all your best buddies, and the people you want to be buddies with.
Ask at least 15 questions for the buddies you nominate.
Answer the questions your buddies has asked for you.

My question from Eve;
1)Favorite sweets (this includes chocolate)
I don't really eat sweet too much, or chocolate, but I do like chocolate from time to time, so anything containing chocolate would be my favorite!

2)Write a sentence describing a moment of your childhood.
A moment of my childhood I can remember so clearly goes like this.
I used to do dancing when I was younger and the younger girls and the older girls were split into different dressing rooms for shows, and my outfit was in the older girls dressing room and I had to get changed in there and I was so terrified of the older girls I ran back to the other dressing room in tears!

3)Something you learnt recently, not related to your school curriculum.
I recently taught myself how to do a winged eyeliner, I hope this counts. I've been learning how to do winged eyeliner for like 3 years now and I've only just manged it.

4)Favorite breakfast cereal.
I love the mini chocolate weetabix, but I'm also liking the new coco pops porridge, how can I choose??

5)Favorite clothing brand.
Ooo, this is difficult I hardly do any clothes shopping. I'm not even sure what would class as a clothing brand, but I do shop mostly at next and h&m.

6)Favorite make up brand.
Rimmel london, all the way. Most of my products are rimmel london, although I also love seventeen products very much.

7)If you had to live in another era, when would you live?
I think I'd like to live in the 90's, I was born in 99 so I just missed out. But it sounds so good, like I like the sound of everything about the 90's.

8)What would you want on hand in a zombie apocalypse, you have 5 items.
A "how to survive a zombie apocalypse" book, do they exist? I don't know but it would be handy! Also a generally good book because If i'm hiding I could do some light reading.
Silly string, because if a zombie came near me I could spray them and run away.
I would like a car on hand because I could keep driving away until I found some other survivors, I can't drive but I'll try.
Maybe some equipment to build a raft, zombies can't swim, right?

9)Flying or sailing?
Flying, flying, flying.

10)Early to bed and early to rise, or lie in and stay up till 3 in the morning?
Early to bed and early to rise! I used to be the opposite, but now I feel like I miss the day so I'm always early to bed and early to rise.

11)Favorite hobbies, besides internetting?
I love reading, like love love reading.

12)Whats your superpower and would you use it for good or evil?
Well my superpower would be flying, like imagine how cool that would be. I'd use it for good to save people and capture the evil villans.

13)Biggest nightmare or fear?
The dark but also spiders, I guess they come together. I just hate the dark like, it's so scary. Yes the dark is my biggest fear, it's an all round nope.

14)If you could play god and change any aspect of humanity, what would you change?
I would make everyone be nice to each other, can you imagine walking down the street and everyone was so nice and complementing each other.

15)Do you like trying new foods? Whats the most bizarre thing you've tired? Did you like it?
I'm not really into trying new foods, expecially as I'm a person of not trying new foods at all. This might not be bizarre but on holiday last year, I had this fish which still had bones in, they said It was okay to eat, I'm not sure it was. But after I ate it I said really loud "This fish is trying to eat me because I ate it" I do regret saying that out loud, but it was the last time I touched fish with bones in!!

My questions;
1) If you were to blog about something you've never blogged about before what would it be?
2) If you could be famous for one thing, what would you be famous for?
 3) You have £100, what do you spend it on?
4) If you were given a youtube channel, what would your first video be about?
5) Radio or TV channel?
6) Facebook or twitter?
7) What is your favorite item of jewelry
8) If you could be anyone for a day, who would you be?
9) Rain or sun?
10) Stay at home and do things, or go outside and do things?
11) What shop do you most want to shop in? (it can be anywhere in the world)
12) Do you like the little things in life, the big things in life or both?
13) Do you like painting your nails bright or nude?
14) Write a sentence describing your dream future life
15) What are your top 3 websites? (not including your blog)

HOW TO REVISE?

I haven't done a thoughts/help/talk blog post in a while so I thought this post would be relevant as me and hundreds of other year 11 students will be currently revising for up and coming exams in the summer.

As almost every teacher says, "Revision is the key to good grades" well okay it is, but how do you revise exactly? They tell you not to just "read" what you've done because it doesn't sink into your brain, so how does it? I'm going to try and give you some helpful tips to make all the revision goodness stay in your brain for exams!!

1) REVISE EARLY- Don't start revising a few weeks before your exams, revise months before!! Revising months before helps it stick in your brain, gives you time to go over everything several times and you can see what you don't know and then learn it!

2) TRY PAST QUESTIONS- You can find on the internet or ask your teachers for questions on a certain topic, or you can get hold of an exam paper from a few years before. You can have a try as if it was your real exam, and it gives you a good idea of what may crop up on an exam.

3) ATTEND REVISION - I'm not sure if all schools do this but I know mine does, we have revision sessions which teachers run at break and after school. I know it sucks and you get to miss your favorite TV shows, but hey at least you'll know something for your exam you didn't previously. Sometimes smaller revision classes help get more revision done!

4) TEST YOURSELF- Make mind maps, sticky notes, or lists of everything you need to know for the exam and tick it off if you know it, once you tick something off try a test question (you can find them online or ask a teacher) this way you can see if you really do know it or if you need to spend more time on it.

5) REVISE CREATIVELY- Create ways of revising which help your brain to remember the information. A mind map, a color coded poster. Post it notes all around your house (a different room for a different topic helps!) Maybe do all revision for one topic one color, and another topic another color.
Perhaps you remember things by listening to them, record yourself saying the important bits and listen to it!
You like reading? Create yourself a poem or a story containing all the important bits and read it, memorize it or even give it to a friend to help them!
However you remember things make a creative fun way to revise your stuff using that system.

6) REVISE OFTEN - You can't just revise once maybe twice a week, yeah it sucks I know. But once you're leaving school or where ever with good grades that you're happy with you will thank yourself. You're not wasting your life while revising because if you have good grades, you can get the job you want, therefore you'll be enjoying yourself!!

I hope these tips help you to revise. If you have any tips you use to revise let me know, we can share them together and help each other!!
Good luck in all of your exams and remember, believe and you can do. You'll do great!!

MUA MATTE FOUNDATION REVIEW

(photo credit to my wonderful friend Casey)

Recently I decided to go over to the MUA website and order many products, I've heard people say the make-up is good quality and also cheap so I thought, why not? and went ahead and ordered some products.

Now I own so many foundations and I only usually use one or two but I went ahead and ordered the MUA matte foundation anyway as it was on sale at £1;50 (and still is).
I wasn't expecting amazing quality as it was only £1;50 but it kind of shocked me how good it was, I love how easy the foundation goes onto the face and pretty much does almost the same as an expensive foundation but for less cost.

If you're someone who is new to make-up or just likes the basic cheap make-up (like me) I really do suggest this foundation. It leaves you with a matte looking finish and lasts a long time, as long as you're not touching your face a lot. It's great if you don't really want to spend ages doing your make up as you can just put it on and you're done.
The only thing about this product that could be seen as a down factor is the fact it only comes in two shades (luckily one of them is my shade) and also I found it quite difficult to apply with a brush without having to used a lot from the tube because with it being matte it's more difficult to move around the face. But if you're someone who doesn't mind using a little bit more or you don't really fuss about using brushes anyway to apply your make-up this foundation is definitely for you!

Let me know if you've ever got some really good, or really bad products from MUA I'd love to hear!

TIME OUT

Hey Lovelies so this post is only short and is going to be a little update.

I know my posts recently have been varied and not to a schedule (which I'm not worried about) and there hasn't been many pictures, I had some issues with my camera so I had to change my posts around which is awfully annoying.
I'm going to be taking some time out, a week or two at the max, just so I can focus on school work and get that out of the way and hopefully get some pictures sorted for when I start posting again.
I will be back after two weeks, or one and from then on I should be back at a schedule.
My apologies lovelies, stay happy and I'll see you soon!!

Keeping myself happy

I'm sure we all have times especially with school when we feel a bit down, maybe with stress or lack of sleep or we just don't feel 100% so I thought I'd share with you a few things I do that heighten my mood in hopes they might inspire you or even help you too!

1) Photo/Quote book - This is a little different than the quote book in my new year resolutions post as I started this book last year where on each page I stick a photo of either my favourite places, people or things and write inspirational quotes, It makes me feel better to read and to also to do.

2) My We Heart It Blog - I've had my we heart it blog for ages and I can honestly spend hours on it, I love hearting photos of make-up, fashion, people, animals, food, places and everything else you can imagine, putting them into sets and organizing them. It definitely makes me feel happier looking photos of nice things and being able to add them to my profile.

3) Listening to music -As simple as it is listening to music really does make me feel a lot better.

4) Taking Photos - I adore taking photos, even when I don't need cheering up. But It definitely does the trick.

(This is the set of my blog photos)
